Talentum Foundation for the Support of Volunteering non-profit organisation was established in 2002 with the aim of providing support and help for volunteers through trainings, counselling, and various services provided in the Southern region of Hungary.
Our organisation has two main fields of activity:
1. Talentum Development and Methodology Centre: The centre’s mission is to improve civilian and non-profit institutes and organisations in the county through trainings, professional programs, events, and workshops. Our centre has an active connection with societal organisations and institutions in Szeged. We provide organizational development team-building activities for civilians and institutions as well.
2. Volunteer Centre of Csongrád-Csanád County: The center’s mission is to encourage members of society, by representing and advocating the culture of volunteering, to take part in volunteering activities.
Local activities of the volunteer centre:
- Recruitment and mediation of volunteers
- Maintaining a database of the hosting organisations
- Spreading the culture of volunteering on events and professional programs
- Counselling/advising with regard to volunteering
- Providing preparatory trainings for volunteers and hosting organisations
- Thematic volunteering programs (volunteering in museum, theatre, hospital, with the elderly, etc.).
International volunteering:
- Talentum Foundation is a member of the European Volunteer Centre (CEV), and we participate in the work of the EURODESK.
- Since 2014, we are an accredited EVS (European Solidarity Corps since 2018) sending, hosting, and coordinating organisation. Within our various long-term, short-term and group projects, we’ve already hosted 103 volunteers from countries of the European Union and from Erasmus+ partner countries.
- Be a volunteer in Hungary! - A new type of ongoing international project of Talentum Foundation is managing and supporting volunteers with a scholarship from third-world countries. If you are studying in Szeged and you would like to get to know the city and the people better and do something useful and valuable for the community in your free time, contact us! The local NGOs and state institutions are more than happy to welcome you for volunteering activities in: kindergartens, schools, elderly clubs, hospitals, or even for physical work.
- Our Foundation has been working with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Szeged for two years. We cooperate with the university to promote the integration of foreign students arriving at the university by offering a 5-credit course for students on Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships at the beginning of their first semester. During the training, they get to know the country, the city and the culture that surrounds them, and then learn about where to go in case of trouble, where to buy medicine or what are the accepted standards of behaviour towards officials. Afterwards, several students get involved in the Foundation's life: they come with us on volunteer activities and participate in several of our events.
Youth Exchange in Talentum Foundation
- Youth Exchanges receive groups of young people from different countries which is a great opportunity to meet new people from all around the world, to learn about ourselves and about different topics. they have the opportunity to learn about the volunteering and to develop new skills by volunteer actions. The programs use the non-formal and informal educational methods, we help the participants to give feedbacks on their learning experiences and learning outcomes.
- Talentum Foundation organizes different Youth Exchanges under Erasmus+ KA1 Youth and contributes to achieving its goal of reaching a quality education level through non-formal education, the exchange of best practices, mobility and intercultural learning in European and non-EU countries.
One of our youth programs:
Talentum Foundation promotes the volunteering by the volunteer action. Voluntary action is a form of action that is easy to involve young people in, quick and with immediate results. Develops their sense of responsibility and autonomy, builds dialogue and solidarity among nations, and with the target group. In the program English is the common language; this represents a perfect opportunity for young people to improve their language skills.
The program covers travel costs, accommodation, meals and any costs related to the project. At the end, participants will receive a Youthpass Certificate recognizing their participation in a youth exchange which is useful at European level.
VolunteerIN' – The change starts with you
New board game to promote volunteering
The Talentum Foundation and Caritas Alba Iulia are committed to showcasing and supporting the diversity of volunteering. In order to make this important element of social participation known, accepted and interesting for young people, we created the board game VolunteerIN' - The change starts with you. Our aim was to make volunteering more popular among young people, so that they would be brave enough to try their hand at a volunteering activity or programme.
The game was developed for the secondary school age group. The game is not a stand-alone board game, but an educational game embedded in a process, around which it is recommended to organise a processing session to achieve the desired effect. The game is accompanied by a methodological guide which not only describes how to play the game, but also describes the whole processing process. We recommend the use of the board game to youth workers, teachers, trainers, counsellors, peer helpers, volunteer coordinators who work with young people and want to motivate their target group to volunteer.
